What to do in Dongara

There is plenty to see and do in Dongara with a variety of sea and land activities to suit everyone. 

  • Big Western Rock Lobster

Dongara prides itself as the ‘Rock lobster capital of Australia’. To commemorate this, a giant red rock lobster sculpture is made in the town. A start attraction, as tourists are allowed to climb on the sculpture to take pictures.

  • Dongara Markets

Stock up with local produce or grab a locally made souvenir at the Dongara Markets.  The Markets are held on the first Saturday of every month in the Town Park. Plants, honey, fishing gear, tools, arts & crafts, train rides, ladies clothes, hand-made gifts, jumping castle, raffles, pony rides, soaps, hot food, olive oils and much more! Listen to some great music by local artists while browsing. Open from 8.30am—12.30pm

  • Irwin Historical Museum

The Irwin District Museum is housed in the former Dongara Police Station, Courthouse and Gaol. The building also served as a ticket of leave hiring depot, and police quarters. It's open Mon- Sat, 10am

  • Western Flora Wildflower Tours

Western Flora Caravan and Tourist Park offers a wide variety of wildflowers to see during the wildflower season every year.  You can either do a self guided tour or the owners Ron and Sue offer a guided wildflower tour at 4.30 every day.
