May 2021 Newsletter featuring Tom Price, Paraburdoo and Karijini

We who work for Integrity Coach Lines are some of the fortunate few that LOVE our job.  Not only do we work with a great bunch of people, but how many can go into work every day and have the owner make your morning cuppa, bring you a cupcake (he takes full credit for his wife’s cooking) and makes sure that when needed (lets face it, we need it a lot lately!), there is a good supply of chocolate?!? And that's on top of some of the workers (looking at you Deb, *wink*!) or their wives sending in some delicious goodies too sometimes. There are plenty of laughs and hard work is always recognized. It makes for a happy place to be and work.

That culture is extended to each and every person we meet, whether it be over the phone, in person or via email so we often see or hear from many of the same people time and time again.  Actually, we pride ourselves on it!

A big thank you to everyone who takes the time to contact us, we enjoy receiving your feedback and really do appreciate it!

Tom Price - Karijini - Paraburdoo

Tom Price and Paraburdoo are sometimes not really seen because Karijini National Park is such a huge draw card to the area, but they are lovely towns in their own right with a few things to keep you occupied while exploring the Pilbara region. The Tom Price Visitor Centre is the perfect place to stop and get some information about the surrounding areas.

Tom Price

Tom Price is known as the “Top Town in WA” as it is the highest town above sea level.  Inland, and situated in the Pilbara region of WA at the edge of the Hamersley Range, the ancient landscape is like nowhere else on earth. Literally!

Jurndamurneh to the local Aboriginal people, meaning ‘wallabies live near here’ also known as Mt Nameless, is the most prominent feature of Tom Price.  The mountain offers a magnificent view of Tom Price Mine Site and township.

You don’t need a 4WD to get to the top as there are two walk trails up to the summit.

Take a good pair of walking shoes, plenty of water and provisions if you are keen to get some exercise, as it is 1,128 metres above sea level!

Karijini

The park is the traditional home of the Banyjima, Kurrama and Innawonga Aboriginal people. The Banyjima name for the Hamersley Range is Karijini. Signs of their early occupation date back more than 20,000 years.

Ask anyone who visits WA and they will tell you that they know of Karijini and is a ‘must see’.  Integrity Coach Lines use Tom Price as the gateway for passengers to visit the world renowned Karijini National Park. In conjunction with our Perth to Tom Price services, we can also offer a Broome to Tom Price option with an overnight stay at Nanutarra, Exmouth or Coral Bay.  Any way you choose to get there, you will be held captive by the exquisite gorges, gully’s and splendor of the natural bush settings.

Unplug from technology, sit back and relax with a guided tour of the best spots within Karijini. This year Lestok Tours offer an impressive day tour option along with a Mine Tour, both of which will keep you busy for a couple of days!

Pair this with our Hop on Hop off Pass and you have yourself the best independent, budget travel option there is going!

For the self sufficient explorer, try a visit to the Tom Price Vistors Centre where you will receive the best local knowledge and recommendations that may assist in anything from a self-guided visit to Karijini and Millstream, or guided tours such as the Rio Tinto Mine Site Tour and even Karijini Day Tours. The Karijini Tourist Interactive Centre is a wonderful way to learn about the area.

Paraburdoo

Paraburdoo is located on the edge of the desert and in the Hamersley Ranges. Early Europeans in the area named a land lease 'Pirraburdoo' after a local Aboriginal word which was widely accepted as 'white cockatoo'.

Though mainly a mining town to house workers and their families, there are still things to see in Paraburdoo.  The Hamersley Ranges provide an amazing, natural and rugged backdrop for both drives from Tom Price and from the North West Coast Road.  A rich variety of wildflowers can be seen, when in season.

Radio Hill Lookout is one of the places that should not missed when in Paraburdoo with spectacular views of the whole town.

Kellys Pool is located by the golf course, so after hitting a few rounds (that’s a golfing term right?) grab a picnic and head to the picturesque year round water hole.  You can leave your swimming gear behind though as swimming is prohibited.

Take advantage of the budget friendly Hop on Hop off Pass and take yourself on a leisurely journey anywhere between Perth and Broome, north and south.
