GERALDTON

Geraldton is a coastal city in the Mid-West region of Western Australia, 424 kilometres north of Perth, or around a 6 hour coach ride.
Rich in history, the name Geraldton is derived from Charles Fitzgerald, the governor of the state between 1848 & 1855.  In 1857, Geraldton became a short lived convict settlement, but it was not until the late 1800's that it became the major port for the Murchison gold rush and experienced a population growth.

You will never be looking for something for something to do. Geraldton is a cultural hub for attractions including the arts, food, drink and entertainment. Not to mention the vast history of the region is just fascinating. Immerse yourself!

Speaking of its prosperous arts culture, the most amazing piece of public art is the memorial to HMAS Sydney by Joan Walsh and Charles Smith. This is a must see and the view from there is amazing, especially at sunset so don't forget your camera!

With an expansive coastline, there are beaches galore! They have you covered if you are into water sports, leisure and fishing, want seclusion or just a fun relaxing day out.
Sightseeing is made simple with many charters and tours available.
See the Abrolhos Islands which are located approximately 60km off the Geraldton coast. 122 islands make up the group. They are an archipelago with crystal blue waters and an abundance of sea, bird and animal life, which make a visit to the Islands an absolute must for all visitors. On your way you can fish, bird and whale watch, dive or just take in the serenity of the ocean. Though you can also choose to fly, but then maybe don’t request the snorkelling!

Other attractions include Ellendale Pool, Geraldton Regional Art Gallery, The Lighthouse Keepers Cottage, The Museum of Geraldton, The old Gaol Museum and Arts Centre, The Birdwood Military Museum and much, much more.

Integrity Coach Lines arrive into Geraldton several times per week.  It truly is a little haven for the adventurous or a tranquil short break for some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Be sure to put Geraldton onto your itinerary.

Congratulations to Wilson Bock, our latest competition winner!
As a little added bonus to his entry, Wilson also added a haiku (a Japanese traditionally evoking images of the natural world).

A halogen glow. Condensation drips. Winter pressing on the glass. This tired bus rolls on. Bring me home once more.

We love it!  Thanks Wilson.  We look forward to having you travel with us and seeing some photo's of your trip this year.
