Rob may be relatively new to the company, but he has proven time and time again that he is a great asset not only as a safe, knowledgeable driver but by being a genuinely nice person.
Someone who knows the job, is consistent and happily sets off on a near 6000km drive each week to take passengers where ever they need to go, Rob undertakes all of his responsibilities with professionalism. Not to mention his camera skills are on point! He often takes photos of happy passengers enjoying their time on the coach which we use in our social media posts.
In Rob’s own words here is a quick overview of his time here so far;
I started in January 2021 having previously been a truck driver delivering in the Perth Metro Area.
Driving a coach from Perth to Broome and back requires a certain amount of preparation. There are checks that need to be done before departure and this keeps me busy. It is an epic journey and it pays to be prepared.
My most memorable trip so far would have to be when the road was flooded at Peedamulla Creek. That was a spectacular event. Flash flooding is a regular occurrence and very unpredictable. The speed of the water is amazing and it can tear up the road and make it impossible to pass. Plus, I saw one of the most spectacular Pilbara sunsets you can ever see!
Two things I really like about this job is one - the driving! You have to like it since there are over 5500 kilometres to travel each week, and two – the different passengers that come along and ride the bus. They share in the experience of travelling through some stunning country.
If you happen to have Rob as your driver on your next bus trip, say "hi" and get a photo with him next to the coach, then keep an eye out on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
